The danger of "feeling your faith" through the prism of an emotional experience, is that you run the risk of diluting your faith in a ritual that you find yourself bound to.
“Say to all your people and your priests, ‘During these seventy years of exile, when you fasted and mourned in the summer and in early autumn, was it really for me that you were fasting? And even now in your holy festivals, aren’t you eating and drinking just to please yourselves?"
Zechariah 7:5-6 (NLT)
Salvation is the result of faith in the unselfish, love driven, unbridled determination of the Lord Jesus Christ to sacrifice himself for our iniquity! Nothing else!
His gift is what makes us whole, not a single thing we do can add or subtract from that. We are as unworthy as possible to become members of His family but BY HIS GRACE, we can and are redeemed!
Not what we do or don't do on Sunday! Not who we associate with or the circles we run with. Not the wonderful effort we put forward for those "less fortunate than us".
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God that is, His remarkable, overwhelming gift of grace to believers is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23 (AMP)
What we do and say is a reflection of our faith in Jesus Christ. This is from which our salvation is assured. As we turn from our past and follow Him, those reflections oh His Love and Grace becomes increasingly clearer to those around us. Not the other way around!
