Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.
Matthew 13:44 (NKJV)
It’s not too difficult to slide past this verse as you’re reading in Matthew. There is, however, a very powerful message in it that every Christian should take hold of.
Let’s preface this by looking at what the title of this article means:
Fully vested is a person's right to the full amount of some type of benefit, most commonly employee benefits such as stock options, profit sharing or retirement benefits. Fully vested benefits often accrue to employees each year, but they only become the employee's property according to a vesting schedule.
For a moment lets consider that this man in this verse is you. It is after all you, and it is me, and it is any believer. Because the ‘field’ in question is our our worldly journey. Think of yourself standing out in the middle of this field of existence and you have come across the most found the most amazing discovery.
This ‘Treasure’ comprises itself of every possible good thing that could be imagined. It includes the answers to every question that your heart desires to be resolved. In this treasure, you see the sustenance for the future that goes beyond the bounds of your own physical existence here to the grave and beyond.
You can NOT remove this treasure from where you found it as it is too vast to pick up and move. A treasure so vast and unimaginable that there is nothing you wouldn’t give to secure this for your own.
So you do what you know you must to possess this treasure. You count all that you have as being worthless and exchange it for the field from which you discovered the treasure. Only when you have commuted all you have can you possibly reap all the benefits of this glorious treasure. And you must, for the bounty of this is beyond comprehension.
Thus is the Kingdom of heaven…
I think perhaps you’ve by now gotten the idea, if you hadn’t seen it at first. But let me spell it out just to be sure.
There is an opportunity to obtain the most amazing treasure imaginable. It’s commonly called ‘Salvation’. But when you stumble upon it you realize that inside this one container is all that you require to sustain an eternal existence with abundance.
This treasure include all you will ever require to maintain peace, joy and comfort in your travel regardless of your circumstances. The icing on the cake is that you in the process of securing this treasure establish a close personal relationship with the one to assembled this treasure and will constantly refresh it as you consume it day in and day out.
That should be enough to without hesitation abandon all that would prevent you from securing this treasure and become ‘Fully Vested’ in this opportunity. It’s not a difficult decision to make. And if you wait and come back later to try to secure it what’s to say that it will still be there? Therefore, there is every reason to commit to this immediately.
Whatever it takes to secure your eternal treasure.
If it is unacceptable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you live; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
Joshua 24:15 (AMP)
That’s what my decision is as I stand in that field. The treasures contained in Salvation are too great to be lost to the slavery of procrastination and doubt. I will invest all that I own and all that I am to secure this treasure by putting my full faith and trust in Jesus the author and finisher of my Salvation.
I will not risk the chance that a thief may come along and steal my treasure from the field of God’s redemption. There is no way possible for me to do anything but become ‘Fully Vested’ in promise of His blood that He shed for me on Calvary!
Listen! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and have dinner with him, and he with Me.
Revelation 3:20 (HCSB)
Are you ‘Fully Vested’? If not, why? There is no reason not to that can stand up to the treasure awaiting you. And if you keep coming back to the field for a bit of this treasure isn’t it time that you fully commit to it? Become ‘Fully Vested’ and place your faith and hope in Jesus.
